Schneider worked with a leading manufacturer in the $100 billion global home appliance industry, shipping some of the world’s most recognized brands in kitchen, laundry and refrigeration appliances.

Situation

During a period of heightened cost pressure, the customer sought to reduce overall supply chain spend—specifically within high-volume, cross-border traffic between the U.S. and Mexico, a critical lane for their business.

Schneider solution

Based on volume flows, market conditions and an integrated portfolio of cross-border services, two areas were identified for cost reduction:

1. Optimized transfer strategy

The existing transfer approach shifted to a partial transfer model that used customs benefits available through the U.S.-Mexico free trade zone. This reduced transfer costs per load while maintaining compliance and transit reliability. 

2. Simplified cross-border execution with EZ-Border®

A costly diversion process was removed by converting all cross-border freight to the Schneider EZ-Border service, leading to:

 

  • Reduced reliance on multiple carriers
  • Elimination of incremental customs charges
  • Streamlined coordination through a single carrier network

Results

Schneider was able to reduce total cross-border spend. This also helped our customer optimize their supply chain, meet their business objectives and maintain their competitive edge in the marketplace.

In addition, this program delivered an increase in efficiency for the customer’s logistics team. With EZ-Border, traffic managers needed to make only one call to the Schneider customer service team, and the loads moved. The billing processes were consolidated from multiple invoices to a single bill from Schneider, making costs more predictable and easier to manage.
